We are looking for an experienced and skilled bookkeeper to maintain our financial records, including all purchases, sales, receipts, payments, VAT and payroll.
This is a broad, crucial and varied role and sits at the heart of the golf club operations. The role reports to the General Manager and deputises for that role from time to time, including fielding telephone enquiries. The role will also have a close working relationship with the club’s external financial consultant.
What will I need to do?
Recording of all day-to-day financial transactions, bringing the books to trial balance stage
Sales/Membership invoices – all data entry, raising invoices, credit control, receipt allocation and customer reconciliations and direct debit processes.
Bank/Cash – Office banking, Electronic Point of Sale reconciliations (cash, cheques and cards), petty cash management, bank reconciliations and all related data entry
Supplier invoices – all data entry, account reconciliations and making payments to suppliers.
Payroll - Undertake payroll and related activities.
VAT returns - Completion and submission of quarterly partial exemption VAT returns
Financial aspects of member bar cards – data entry and reconciliation
Gift aid processes and claims
Liaison with external accountant, treasurer, bank, suppliers, customers and golf club members
All financial documentation filing
Working with external accountant to streamline systems, processes and data entry.
What are the specific requirements?
Technical
Highly computer literate with hands-on experience with Excel spreadsheets, accounting software (Xero is desirable) and MS Office
Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable principles, balance sheet reconciliations and accruals and prepayments. Will be familiar with month end and year end processes to bring the books to trial balance stage
Experience of running payroll including payroll processes and related compliance
Knowledge of partial exemption VAT and golf club nuances would be an advantage
Proven bookkeeping experience to trial balance
Experience of Intelligent Golf will also be an advantage but not essential
